Rapid housing after the Jasper wildfires

After the 2024 Jasper wildfires displaced residents and damaged homes and infrastructure, Black Diamond Group worked with Parks Canada and local authorities to create modular housing for impacted families.

Remote workspace for hydro infrastructure

Stuart Olson GDB JV needed office, conference and break space before work could begin on a remote hydro generating station redevelopment west of Thunder Bay. Black Diamond Group delivered three large office complexes, coordinating out-of-province transport and installation over four weeks.

Custom storage for remote utility site

BC Hydro needed two custom storage containers for a remote substation in North Central B.C.: one for hazardous materials and one for standard storage. Black Diamond coordinated design, manufacturing, engineering and long-distance delivery to meet BC Hydro’s specifications, including a 2H fire rating and exterior access for the hazmat container.

A custom office solution built on Vancouver Island

Office complex for a remote island worksite

A construction and excavation client needed a custom office complex beside a rock quarry on Vancouver Island, where limited access, seismic requirements and environmental constraints shaped the project. Black Diamond Group completed 90 per cent of construction offsite and installed the building in two craning days.

Emergency support for wildfire evacuees

The City of Prince George needed a summer-long Emergency Support Services hub to support people displaced by wildfires, including Jasper evacuees. Black Diamond supplied office trailers, a lavatory unit and a Cultural Appreciation Trailer where First Nations elders and Indigenous representatives could support their communities.

Two-storey SmartSpace complex for a hydro site

A dam generating station team needed more workspace on a compact site without moving people away from the work. Black Diamond used a two-storey SmartSpace complex to add offices, lunchrooms, meeting rooms and open workstations beside the generating station. A skidded lavatory and 2,500G combo tank completed the setup.

Secure observation space for port operations

A port operations client needed a secure, long-term observation building at a busy barge location with limited space and vandalism risk. Black Diamond delivered a project-specific portable building with a kitchen, lunch area, washroom and custom rock guards, coordinating installation so port operations could continue without interruption.

Kenaidan Contracting Ltd. needed office, break and subcontractor space for a high-profile transportation project in Toronto’s Lower Don area. Black Diamond Group delivered a stacked SmartSpace village that maximized a tight downtown site and gave multiple project teams the space they needed to work, meet and recharge.

Dow needed temporary office, lunchroom and contractor space during the early stages of its Fort Saskatchewan Path2Zero project. Black Diamond delivered a turnkey space solution using existing fleet and newly manufactured units, while meeting the project’s accelerated timeline, site safety requirements and collaboration goals.

Equinox Gold needed large-scale workforce accommodations to support construction of the Greenstone mine in Northern Ontario. Black Diamond built Ga-Be-She-Win Lodge, a 610-bed camp developed with respect for the local Ojibwe community and the region’s long-term economic opportunity.

Open lodge built with Fort Nelson First Nation

Black Diamond supported Horn River Lodge through Black Diamond Dene, an equity-based agreement with Fort Nelson First Nation established in 2009. The model gave clients flexible access to workforce accommodations in the Horn River Basin with shared economic opportunity.

Restoring operations after destructive fire in Quebec

When fire destroyed Mont Cascades’ 18,000 square foot ski lodge in Cantley, QC, we delivered 6,960 square feet of modular space in 3.5 months. Our modular units allowed them to open for ski season, maintain their business operations and protect their seasonal revenue.

Sunset Prairie Lodge brings modular accommodations, operated lodging, workforce travel support and Indigenous partnership together in one remote project environment.

Located in B.C.’s Montney region, the lodge operates through Black Diamond Cygnus, Black Diamond Group’s equity-based partnership with West Moberly First Nations.

Black Diamond provides the modular accommodation assets and operates the lodge, supporting private rooms, food service, recreation, fitness amenities, high-speed Wi-Fi and day-to-day guest services.

The project demonstrates relevant experience supporting remote workforce needs through coordinated accommodations, site services, travel support and long-term Indigenous partnership.
